A Scriptural Look at Calvinism

(John 6:1-29). The 6th chapter of John contains several "proof texts" used by Calvinists to support several of their doctrines. We begin an overview of this chapter so that we can understand its context and dispensational setting. The chapter begins with a miraculous sign, Jesus' feeding of the 5000. The Jews respond by trying to take Jesus and make Him King, so Jesus departs from them into a mountain. The next day the Jews seek Jesus on the other side of the Sea of Galilee and question how He came there. Jesus ignores their question to address a more important issue: their need of spiritual life, which only He can provide.
