  • Past Pentecost to Paul There seems to be an almost universal misunderstanding of the significance of Pentecost as it relates to God’s divine plan for the ages. It has taken on ideas and religious beliefs that were never intended in God’s Word. Examples of these “added” beliefs are: Pentecost means a particular group of religious people who believe in signs, miracles, healings, speaking in tongues, ...
  • Stepping Stones to Truth The Step of Faith It is interesting and instructive that our English word “faith” is only used twice as a noun in the Old Testament! The words faithful, faithfully, and even faithless are used to describe or to tell how Israel reacted to God, but Deuteronomy 32:20 and Habakkuk 2:4 are the only ones that point out a fact. The first tells of Israel’s lack ...
  • The Ages An “Age” could be defined as a period of indefinite duration and characterized by what transpires in the period, especially of a moral and spiritual nature. The word “generation” is sometimes used in Scripture to speak of a certain period or stage of life. We could say there have been several stages in the “age of grace” in which we ...

  • Does Jesus Care? “Casting all your care upon Him: for He careth for you.” (I Peter 5:7) There is a malady that some are commonly calling the “North American disease.” What is it? Is it contagious? Can it infect everyone of every age? Well, it is doubtful that it is confined to North America. Maybe, it is just more pronounced in the good old ...
  • Fellowship with Christ It must be understood that there can be no fellowship with Christ apart from knowing Him as personal Saviour. Fellowship involves agreement. As long as a person remains “dead in trespasses and sins,” he does not have the capabilities of fellowship. A “dead” person cannot believe, share, work, or worship, which are vital parts of fellowship with Christ, our risen ...
  • Have You Any Room for Jesus? “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7) The truth found in this scripture is familiar to many and unknown to many more. It’s real impact is lost upon an unbelieving world. We all need to be reminded ...
  • Hidden in God God knows everything. This is something we must acknowledge if we believe in the true God. However, it is God’s power and privilege to conceal or hide as well as reveal or make known. How true is the Scripture that says, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and ...
  • Once in a Lifetime We are told by philosophers that “history repeats itself.” Is this always true? Are there no once-in-a-lifetime occurrences? Someone has aptly observed that if you put your foot in a flowing stream of water that you could never accomplish the same thing in the same water again. We often repeat the same words over and over again or tell the ...
  • Saved by Grace “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by ...
  • Spiritual Fitness Introduction There is a great upsurge of interest in physical fitness today. Fifty mile hikes, isometrics, bicycle riding, athletic games, and such like, occupy the attention of the general public. The high percentage of men rejected by the military because of physical deficiencies has been the major motivation for this renewed interest. The nation’s populace, especially the youth, has become soft ...
  • The Ministry of the Church There is more confusion concerning the mission and message of the local assembly today than ever in history. Such Satanic issues as social and financial support for extremist groups as the Black Panthers occupies the concern of many large religious bodies. Others are expounding political views of the far right or left or philosophizing as to man’s origin and destiny. ...
  • The Perfect Will of God “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” (Col. 4:12) It is one thing to know the will of God, it is another thing to stand in the will of God.
