The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

Replacing Judas Iscariot

Acts - Book of Transitions

Part 5 - "Replacing Judas Iscariot" (Acts 1:12-26) - Jesus' apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives where they had just watched Him ascend back to heaven. There they rejoined the rest of His disciples, which included the women, Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Jesus' brothers. They were all of one accord and continued in prayer waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Peter then stood up and addressed an issue that needed to be resolved before Pentecost, the choice of a replacement for Judas Iscariot to be "numbered" among them and take part in their ministry. This morning, we examine their choice of Matthias as the 12th apostle and consider whether they were in God's will in doing so or not.

From Series: "Acts - Book of Transitions"

The book of Acts is one of the most important books in the Bible, touching on many key doctrines that affect how we worship and serve the Lord. Yet, it is also one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible, an issue that has caused great division among believers. This series of lessons is a verse by verse study, from a dispensational perspective, through the book of Acts, a book that is marked by transition. These messages were preached by Pastor Gregg Bing at Grace Bible Church during the morning worship service in 2022-2023.
