The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

Prophecy and Mystery - 1

Sunday Morning Message

The Bible is a revelation from God, an unfolding of His eternal purpose of redemption which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord (Eph. 3:11). God's wisdom in making known this purpose is described as being "manifold" (Eph. 3:10), meaning it has many facets. Two important facets we need to recognize if we are going to understand God's Word are prophecy and mystery. This morning, we look at how one of the most important divisions to recognize in "rightly dividing the Word" is distinguishing between God's prophesied purpose for His earthly people, Israel, and the Gentile nations whose blessing is tied to theirs, and God's secret purpose for His heavenly people, the Church, the Body of Christ, which was kept a mystery until it was revealed to and through the Apostle Paul.
