The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

These Bible messages were preached in 2020 by Pastor Gregg Bing during the morning worship service at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

The Trinity - Subordination of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

All three persons of the Godhead exist co-equally and co-eternally, however, there is a sense in which the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and to the Son. The Holy Spirit proceeds from (is sent by) both the Father and the Son. The role of the Holy Spirit is also subordinate to the Father and the Son in that He speaks what He hears from Them, and He speaks in order to glorify the Son. Yet, during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit actually comes upon Him and empowers Him throughout His ministry. However, in regard to the person of the Holy Spirit, He is in no way inferior to the Father or the Son.
