The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

Christ in the Old Testament - in Promise and Picture

Knowing Christ

We look at how God unfolds His eternal purpose of redemption for a fallen race of mankind through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, beginning in the Old Testament Scriptures. This morning we see Christ revealed in promises of blessing which were to come through Him and in pictures or patterns (types and shadows) of His person and His finished work found in the Old Testament.
