King Solomon was used of God to pen a book of wise proverbs to help govern the life of believers. One of these proverbs (4:23) says, “Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” In this brief study, we examine a passage in Paul’s letter to the Colossians which provides three principles to help us guard our hearts (Col. 3:15-17).

These Bible messages entitled “Guard Your Hearts” were preached by Pastor Gregg Bing in 2021 during the morning worship services at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit

Jesus\' Words from the Cross

Nearing the time of His death, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "It is finished!" Having completed the work the Father had given Him to do, bearing the penalty for our sins on that cross, it was time for Jesus to enter into His rest. So, bowing His head, He gave up His spirit, saying, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit," and He breathed His last breath. In this morning's message, we examine the significance of this final statement Jesus made from the cross. We also consider: What happened to Jesus in death? Where did He go for the three days and nights before His resurrection?

The crucifixion of Christ is the greatest event in all of history--the accomplishment of God's eternal purpose of redemption through our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Scriptures record seven statements that Jesus made from the cross. In this study, we examine each of these statements, to understand more about the person of our Savior and of what He accomplished for us by His death on the cross.
