Limited Atonement - 2

A Scriptural Look at Calvinism

We continue our study of "Limited Atonement," the 3rd tenet of Calvinism, which asserts that Christ did not die for the sins of all people, but only for those God elected to be saved, We look at the fact that the main reason Calvinists believe in limited atonement is because it follows logically and philosophically from their firm belief in the first two tenets: total depravity (inability) and unconditional election. We also look at an important distinction that needs to be made, and which Calvinists do not seem to make: between 1) Christ's finished work on the cross (what He accomplished on our behalf) and 2) individual salvation (what is experienced when a person hears and believes the gospel, trusting in Christ as Savior).
