So many things I recollect
(When deep in pensive retrospect)
That give me reason for regret,
And which I’ve striven to forget.

For such are memories of days
Before I entered into ways
Of service for my Lord and King,
The gospel of His peace to bring.

Yet through remembering I find
Great consolation comes to mind
As I reflect upon the grace
That brought His light to this dark place.

Nostalgia I’ll not entertain,
Nor old regrets to cause me pain;
Instead I’ll joy forevermore,
That these can’t pass through heaven’s door.
