Though to Calvary cruelly led,
Crown of thorns about His head—
By Judas’ bitter kiss betrayed—
In the tomb though stiffly laid,
HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID!

Though upon the tree He bled
When He suffered in our stead—
Tolerated wracking pain—
His travail was not in vain;
HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID!

Though His precious blood was shed
As for us He prayed and pled—
Paid in full the awful cost
Of salvation for the lost—
HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID!

Though upon that day of dread
He had lain so still and dead
In the sepulcher so bare,
Now no longer is He there:
HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID!
