(Eph. 4:1-3) Paul's letter to the Ephesians begins with a doctrinal presentation of our calling in Christ as members of the Church, the Body of Christ (Eph. 1-3), and then moves to how we are to put into practice these truths in our daily walk (Eph. 4-6). This morning, as we begin this practical section, Paul shows how these two sections are related. He begins by beseeching these believers to "walk worthy of the calling with which you were called." The word "worthy" speaks of balancing two things of equal weight, meaning both doctrine and practice are important in the Christian life. We examine some traits that should mark our lives if we are to walk worthy of our calling.
A verse by verse, dispensational study through the book of Ephesians, one of Paul's prison epistles written while he was in prison in Rome at the close of the book of Acts. This book most fully unfolds the truth of the mystery of Christ; truth that had been kept secret from men of past ages, but has now been revealed to and through the Apostle Paul. This mystery of God's will concerns Gods' purpose for a new body of believers, the Church, the Body of Christ, living under a new dispensation of God, the dispensation of grace.
