This series of lessons examines the person and work of the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit. The series begins by studying the doctrine of the triune nature of God; looking at the difficulty of understanding this concept, and examining the three fundamental elements of the doctrine of the trinity. We then move on to look at the work of the Holy Spirit including: His work in the Old Testament, His coming into the world, His work in regard to our salvation, and the filling of the Holy Spirit.

These Bible lessons were taught by Pastor Gregg Bing in 2019 during the adult Sunday school class at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

Why Jesus Spoke in Parables - 2

The Parables of Jesus

(Matthew 13:14-17) We continue looking at Jesus' answer to His disciples' question: "Why do You speak to them (the multitudes) in parables?" The use of parables was to conceal truth from a wicked generation of Jews who did not have "ears to hear" the truth Jesus spoke. It was a means of judicially blinding the nation, something we first see in Isaiah 6:9-10, but something which happened throughout the history of God's dealings with Israel. The parables were also given by Jesus to reveal the truth to His true disciples because they did have "ears to hear."
