Today You Will be with Me in Paradise

Jesus\' Words from the Cross

Jesus was "numbered with the transgressors," being crucified between two thieves. Initially, both thieves joined with the crowds in mocking and taunting Jesus. However, as the morning wore on, one thief had a change of heart and mind--a genuine repentance. We examine what caused such a change in this repentant thief as he hung on the cross. We also look at the difference it made in his eternal destiny as we consider Jesus' second statement from the cross, "Assuredly, I say to you, 'Today, you will be with Me in Paradise'" (Luke 23:43).

The crucifixion of Christ is the greatest event in all of history--the accomplishment of God's eternal purpose of redemption through our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Scriptures record seven statements that Jesus made from the cross. In this study, we examine each of these statements, to understand more about the person of our Savior and of what He accomplished for us by His death on the cross.
