Baptism and the Great Commission - Part 1

The Baptisms of Scripture

Jesus' words to His apostles before His ascension back to heaven are usually referred to as "The Great Commission," a commission that is assumed by most Christians to be our commission today. While this commission did focus on preaching the gospel, it also included water baptism. We examine the passages (Matthew 28 and Mark 16 in particular), to determine if this commission is for us today and how baptism fit with this commission. In this lesson, the focus is on Matthew 28.

Scripture References: Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 19:1-7, Acts 10:43-46, Acts 8:1-17

From Series: "The Baptisms of Scripture"

This series of Bible studies examines the many different baptisms found in the Scriptures, looking at the practice and meaning of each. Much focus will be placed on the one baptism that is still in operation today in this present dispensation of God's grace: the baptism by the Holy Spirit that places believers into Christ. These lessons were given during the adult Sunday school class at Grace Bible Church in 2021.
