The Parable of the Two Sons

The Parables of Jesus

(Matthew 21:28-32) Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, in which He is presented to Israel as Messiah the Prince, initiated the last phase of His life on earth: the passion week. During this week, He told several parables. In this study, we look at the events leading up to the first of these parables: the parable of the two sons. In particular, we examine His cleansing of the temple and the challenge from the Jewish rulers about who gave Him the authority to do these things. This challenge and Jesus' response to it, was followed by Him telling them the parable of the two sons.
