The Parable of the Fig Tree - 1

The Parables of Jesus

(Matthew 22:15-24:8) We look at the events that led up to Jesus' final three parables, all told to His disciples: the confrontation of Jesus by the Jewish rulers, trying to entangle Him in His speech, Jesus' pronouncement of woe upon the scribes and Pharisees because of their hypocrisy, and Jesus' lamentation over Jerusalem (picturing the nation of Israel) for their unwillingness to submit to God's will for them. Jesus then departed from the temple to the Mount of Olives, where He gave a prophetic discourse identifying the signs of the end of the age and of His return. We begin looking at this discourse which leads up the parable of the fig tree.
