Stoning of Stephen

The Book of Acts

The conclusion of Stephen's address to the Sanhedrin was a stinging indictment against the rulers of Israel. Their fathers had killed the prophets of God, they had crucified the Son of God, and now they resisted the Holy Spirit of God. He called them stubborn, unfeeling, and lawless. When the rulers heard this, they were furious and stopped listening to his words; they rushed upon him as one, cast him out of the city, and stoned him to death. (Acts 7:51-60).
