Once the Jewish Sanhedrin officially met and found Jesus guilty of blasphemy and deserving of death, they were forced to take Him before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, for they did not have the authority to put anyone to death. This morning, we look at two things: the remorse and the suicide of Judas Iscariot, and the initial portion of Jesus' trial before Pilate, during which He is accused by the Jews and then privately interrogated by Pilate.
In this series of studies, we examine the passion week, the final week of our Lord's life here on this earth that was marked by sufferings and culminated with His death on the cross for our sins. We conclude with a look at our Savior's glorious resurrection after three days in the grave.
