Our study of the key proof text for the 2nd tenet of Calvinism, "Unconditional Election," Romans 9:10-16, continues. We consider God's statement, "Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated," showing that it did not apply to individuals, but to the nations that came from these men. We also look at God's declaration, "I will have mercy (and compassion) on whomever I will." and how this, too, is not about individuals but a nation.
In this series, we examine the 5 tenets of Calvinism, represented by the TULIP acronym and show how each of these assertions are inconsistent with the teaching of the Scriptures when considered from a dispensational viewpoint.
