Christ Baptizing with the Holy Spirit - Part 1

The Baptisms of Scripture

While John the Baptist baptized with water, he announced that the One coming after him would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. This morning, we begin looking at Christ baptizing with the Holy Spirit, which was initiated on the day of Pentecost as seen in Acts 2. This event was foretold not only by John, but by Jesus Himself, primarily to His apostles the night before He was crucified (John 14-16). Jesus referred to the coming of the Holy Spirit as "the Promise of the Father." The Holy Spirit would be sent from the Father, but it was actually the Lord Jesus who would pour out the Spirit on that day after He was exalted.

From Series: "The Baptisms of Scripture"

This series of Bible studies examines the many different baptisms found in the Scriptures, looking at the practice and meaning of each. Much focus will be placed on the one baptism that is still in operation today in this present dispensation of God's grace: the baptism by the Holy Spirit that places believers into Christ. These lessons were given during the adult Sunday school class at Grace Bible Church in 2021.
