The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

A Man Named Stephen

The Book of Acts

The Jewish rulers were furious that their efforts to silence the twelve apostles had failed. They went after, instead, a man named Stephen, a faithful man who served the church in Jerusalem. But, they were unable to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. So, they arrested him and brought false witnesses to testify against him. (Acts 6:1-15).
