The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

The Power and Effectiveness of Prayer

The Book of James

This passage deals with the power of prayer for these believing Jews who look forward to a promised kingdom on earth; a kingdom that offers many physical blessings. James shows these kingdom saints how to handle the situations of life: if suffering, pray; if cheerful, sing psalms; if sick, call for prayer from church elders. The result: "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." While there are principles for us to learn from this passage, the promises belong to Israel.
