The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

These Bible messages were preached in 2020 by Pastor Gregg Bing during the morning worship service at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

It is Finished

Jesus\' Words from the Cross

As Jesus neared the time of His death, knowing all things were accomplished that He was sent to do, and ensuring that every prophecy regarding His sufferings and death were fulfilled, He cried out with a loud voice, "It is finished!" Only one word in the Greek language, but what a powerful statement, and what a meaningful statement, even to us today. While we cannot fully comprehend the depth of these words, a careful examination of them yields rich truths that affect our salvation and our standing before God.
