The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

These Bible messages were preached in 2020 by Pastor Gregg Bing during the morning worship service at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

Being Conformed to Christ's Death

Knowing Christ

We conclude our series on "Knowing Christ," which is based on Paul's earnest desire: "that I may know Him" (Phil. 3:10). Paul's focus was on knowing Christ by experiencing Him in three specific ways: 1) the power of His resurrection, 2) the fellowship of His sufferings, and 3) being conformed to His death. This morning, we consider the meaning of this third aspect, which is the key to truly experiencing Christ in our lives. We examine what it means to be conformed to Christ's death, considering what it accomplished on our behalf (Romans 6) as well as how Christ faced coming into the world and experiencing the agony of the cross (Phil. 2:3-8). Looking to Christ as our example, we also consider how we can realize this experience in our lives.
