The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

These Bible messages were preached in 2020 by Pastor Gregg Bing during the morning worship service at Grace Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX.

Christ in the Old Testament - in Prophecy - Part 2

Knowing Christ

We look at Old Testament prophecies concerning the purpose for which Christ came into this world: His sufferings and death on the cross for our sins His resurrection from the dead. We will focus on two key passages of Scripture: Psalm 22, which prophesies the type of death He would die, crucifixion; and Isaiah 53, which prophesies the reason Christ died, as a substitute for our sins. These Scriptures help us better know and understand what Christ was willing to go through because of His great love for us.
