The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the greatest event in history; it is the central theme of the Scriptures; it is the crisis point through which God’s eternal purpose of redemption was accomplished. It is imperative that we study and know about this critical event in the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In this series, we examine one particular aspect of the crucifixion: the 7 statements Jesus made while He hung on the cross. These statements, which were uttered during the greatest event in history, are clearly significant. We will look at the order in which the statements were made, the situation and purpose for each statement, and the insight each one gives us into the mind and heart of our Savior as well as the reason that He died on that cross.

Patiently Dealing with Family
Joseph had kept Simeon in prison and demanded his brothers return with Benjamin. Eventually, they need more grain and return to Egypt with Benjamin. Once again, Joseph tests his brothers, not for revenge, but to see if their hearts have changed since their cruelty to him. How would the brothers measure up?

The life of Joseph, the favored son of the the patriarch Jacob, provides a wonderful example of a life on integrity. Though his life was filled with trials, hardships, and injustices, he trusted in God no matter what his circumstances. He maintained his integrity, living a life that was faithful, honest, and morally upright, so that God could carry out His purpose in Joseph's life.
