The Hebrew-Christian Epistles

The Key to Understanding the Bible

The New Testament epistles that follow Paul's epistles in the NT canon (Hebrews through the Revelation) are typically referred to as the General Epistles. A better name for them would be the Hebrew-Christian epistles, because their audience is not the Church, the Body of Christ, but Jews (Israel, Hebrews). The writers of these epistles had ministries directed to the Jews. Their letters deal with issues of special concern to Jews: the end of law, the promises and prophecies God gave to Israel. These letters deal not only events from that 1st century AD, but also with events that are still future, when the dispensation of Grace is complete: the tribulation period and the 2nd coming of Christ to earth to establish His kingdom.

From Series: "The Key to Understanding the Bible"

The key which unlocks the meaning of God's Word is found in 2 Timothy 2:15: "rightly dividing the Word of truth." This means approaching God's Word from a dispensational perspective; recognizing that throughout history God has dealt with different people, over different time periods, in different ways, and for different purposes. These messages demonstrate the importance of this principle for interpreting and understanding God's Word by providing a dispensational overview of the Bible, from Genesis to the Revelation.
